Family Notes:
· On Friday you received a notice about our class going to the Rec Center to go swimming. Please send the form back in as soon as possible!
· June is really here! We will begin to clean out our desks and clean the classroom. It is much easier to sort materials and items if all students have a large paper grocery bag to hold their items. Please send in at least one grocery bag for your child.
· In case you haven’t heard, all of Park Street is moving! J With so many people moving, boxes are precious. If you have any extra moving sized boxes, please consider bringing them into the classroom.
· With all the moving, I will also be going through our classroom library. I have placed a box in the hallway labeled “Free.” Any book from our classroom library that I am placing in the box is labeled with a large black D.
Please remember, that if you have any questions or concerns, to contact me. I am available through notes, phone calls, and email. |
Technology Wish List!
Our class now has a “Technology Wish list” page on Digital Wish. Just like a gift registry, teachers build a wish list of classroom technology products. Anyone can review a classroom profile and donate funding or purchase wish list item for a school. Donations are always tax deductible. After each technology purchase, Digital Wish automatically donates an additional 2%-10% in immediate cash-back funding to the recipient school, to fund their next technology project!
Or you can go to digitalwish.com, then go to Vermont, Windsor County, Park Street School |
Mystery Readers
Mrs. Nagle- Principal (2008) Dr. Perotti- Superintendent (2009)
I would like to invite any parents, older siblings, grandparents, relatives, community members, or other special people to surprise your child by being a “Mystery Reader” this year in our classroom. Students LOVE having their family, friends, and relatives visit our classroom to share in our learning by reading a favorite story aloud to our class. Mystery Readers will visit us on Fridays at 11:20 p.m. each week. Readers are asked to bring a book to read or read a teacher-chosen book from our classroom library. Please try to pick a book that can be read in 15 - 20 minutes.
I have also created a Mystery Reader sign-up book that will be kept in the classroom throughout the year. If you would prefer to just come to the classroom and pick your date, feel free to do that instead. Remember, you are a mystery to the class, so try not to tell your child when you will be coming!
I will send home a confirmation note telling you when you will be a Mystery Reader. |

Homework It is written in the Park Street School Handbook that second graders will have twenty minutes of homework four nights a week. The assignments will mostly be in reading, spelling, and math. Unfinished work from the school day may also be sent home. If this happens, this should be completed in addition to the regular homework assignment. We will send home a weekly assignment sheet on Mondays. It is vital
that you check your child’s homework folder daily for homework, makeup work, notes, and school notices. Homework is due the following day.
The Secret Stars homework sheet is given out on Mondays. This sheet gives the daily assignments and has a section of for Family Notes. If your child is unable to complete the assignment in 20 minutes have them stop and write me a note. I can only modify assignments if I know there is an issue! If your child is absent they are not expected to complete the homework that was assigned for that day. However, the homework will still be sent home. Again, it does not need to be completed, but students may go above and beyond.
The Family notes are very important and should be read every week. This is my main way of communicating with families and to update you with classroom news. I also include Important Dates. |
